Have You Ever Danced in the Kitchen in Your Underwear?
Do you ever feel like you need to let your hair down and act in a way like no one is watching you?
I think we all need that!
One of my favorite things to do is dance in my kitchen. There’s something about the kitchen floor resembling a dance floor for me. It’s not only for cooking.
When I was single, I used to wake up on Saturday mornings, brush my teeth, drink my coffee, turn on Spotify, and twerk in my kitchen. My kitchen is where I learned how to twerk. I was too embarrassed to learn in front of people, so every Saturday, it was my way of starting the weekend and letting go of the week’s worth of work and school stress.
Having your own version of twerking in the kitchen is important. It might look like putting puzzles together, rock climbing, or something else. We all need time to just let it out. Take that breath and let it the fuck out. If you’re able to incorporate your body, it can also be a great release.
My current way of letting go? Whenever I am in public and there are sprinklers, I walk through them. There is just something about not caring what you look like in public while getting soaking wet from sprinklers, something I enjoyed doing when I was a kid.
It’s my way of connecting to my inner child and letting go of the day-to-day stressors.
If you can find a way of letting yourself celebrate you and have fun without worrying what people think, I highly suggest it.
