Using Lube and Debunking Myths

Is lube your best friend? It could be.

Have you heard that if a woman needs lube, then she is- insert derogatory comment.

If a woman needs lube, that does not mean she isn’t sexy, isn’t in the mood, is too old for sex, or anything negative.

Our bodies change all the time. Sometimes when I’m dehydrated, I use more lube than when I’m hydrated. I didn’t use lube for years because I thought I was “wet enough.“ However, I started learning that lube can be used even if you have moisture, and I decided to try it. Let me tell you, it made a difference. Sex was always enjoyable, but it made it even more comfortable and enjoyable. Think of a cold winter day when you are out looking at twinkle lights. You might be bundled up in a comfy jacket and your favorite scarf, you feel the heat from the nearby businesses, and the snow outside makes this time magical. However, how much more comfortable and enjoyable is your time when you have a warm cup of hot cocoa or your favorite latte? It makes you feel warmer and happier. Well, lube is like hot cocoa or a latte. It adds to the experience.

Some people need lubrication for various reasons, and that’s okay, too. That doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with them, and there is nothing unsexy about needing lube.

You can make putting on lube part of your foreplay. It can add to the moment, not take away from it.

Whether you're using lube for toys or with your play partner, it can make the moment even more enjoyable.

There are so many lubes out there, and it can be intimidating if you're looking for the first time.

My advice to you is know the reason why you are using lube. Do you want it for toys or for use with a person/s? What will work with the type of toy/s you use? What will work with the type of condoms you use? Do you have any skin concerns?

Maybe you want more than just one lube. Personally, I use a different lube for masturbation and for when I have sex with my partner. If I were to switch them, it wouldn’t fit my needs.
